“My name is Sören, I’m 18 years old and I’ve been a glider pilot since I was 14. My club is LSV Schwabmünchen, which is south of Augsburg. I do my flights with my Ls1-f neo.
Here in Schwabmünchen, the start of thermals is usually quite late compared to the Alb. But with the TopMetSat app I can see perfectly how the clouds are already building up on the Alb. This is a very good feature, so that I can be dragged out of Schwabmünchen accordingly.
In the 2021 season I completed my first 400 FAI, which I was able to plan perfectly thanks to the good forecast of the TopMeteo PFD. During the flight I use the app to see how the clouds are on the following leg. As is well known, with a club class aircraft you do not have the glide ratio of an 18 m aircraft. 😉
Perfect weather analysis before and during the flight will play an important role on the Junior Quli 2022. With the weather data from TopMeteo, I’m in good spirits when it comes to planning.
Thank you TopMeteo for the support I receive.”
Jan Reinke
Sports soldier 2021
Since 2022 TopMeteo pilot.
“I’m Jan Reineke, 22 years old and I’m from Leipzig. There I learned to fly a glider since I was 14 years old. At the beginning of 2019, I then switched to the Kamenz Fliegerclub to deal more intensively with competition and cross-country flying. In the same year I managed to qualify for the German Junior Championships in 2021. In 2020 I also managed 7th place in the international E2Glide competition. My personal highlight of 2020 was my longest cross-country flight of 885 km in the LS4 “MT”. I was then able to further expand this experience in 2021 in my year as a sports soldier and was able to fly over 600 hours in the past few years.
During all this time, the weather forecasts from TopMeteo were always with me and were an important part of the key to success. To prepare for the flight, I always use the ground maps to get an impression of the fronts and weather systems, so that I can later plan my flight path using the very precise cloud distribution, so that I am in the mornings and evenings as possible in the areas where there are already or still clouds . This type of flight preparation has proven to be very useful in both free flights and competitions. During the flight, I not only use the TopMetSat app to recognize betting changes, but due to the relatively high resolution, I even make decisions about my line choice, where the better line is formed based on the clouds.
Many thanks also to TopMeteo for the many successful years by my side!”
